Packaging and Migrating to Windows 7

A migration or standardization process puts substantial pressure on application management. Packaging Robot is used frequently for migrating to a new Windows operating system (Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista). Why?

Packaging Robot ensures lasting control over applications, updates and patches and a flying start to migrations and the software packages it generates are compatible with Microsoft Windows 7.

Convert existing packages

Packaging Robot can automatically convert existing distribution formats such as manually created MSI‘s, Enteo NetInstall, Novell ZENworks AOT-objects and SMS Installer scripts. This can give your migration a flying start, while maintaining a high-quality level of the packages delivered.

Packaging Robot exploits the benefits of application virtualization

Packaging Robot gives you the choice to generate the following software packages: MSI, Microsoft App-V or a VMware ThinApp package or all three formats. These formats have been especially designed to support the complete application Iifecycle, from distribution and automatic repair through to uninstalling it.

A clear view on your applications used and needed

Your applications are stored in a central repository. Before and during the migration this gives you control over the process and insights into the application pacakging from the moment the request is issued through to production.

One of our customers articulated this as follows:

"All the migration steps were clearly recorded in Packaging Robot. It was the backbone of the migration program for us. Packaging Robot indicates which steps have to be taken in the process. It is a series of steps that have to be taken to get a user from A to B, for instance to ensure that the same data is moved from the old to the new environment. Packaging Robot saved us a huge amount of time. I would not have dared to guarantee this project could be done successfully if we had had to do it without the methodology provided by this repackaging tool.
